Make It, Take It workshops
Once again, Buffalo Home Show attendees
can get their hands dirty and work on a fun
project to take home. Three Make It, Take It
workshops, sponsored by Buffalo Spree, are
hosted by local and celebrity designers and
take place on both Fridays of the show.
Jackie Hausler (shown at left), a Buffalo-
based lifestyle blogger and creator of the
blog Haus2Home, hosted a workshop last
year, and says it was an instant hit: “Our
first time running this segment of the Home
Show last year attracted so many excited
Last year, Hausler taught a workshop on
how to make and personalize a freestanding
picture frame from 100 percent reclaimed
wood. “My favorite part was teaching new
DIYers who weren’t familiar with certain
tools, what the tools were, and how to
properly use them,” says Hausler.
This year, Hausler is back with a different
craft project: how to make hanging macramé
planters. “Participants will receive all the
supplies and will take home a beautiful
macramé home décor item complete with
a living Chlorophytum comosum [spider
plant],” she says. “Using mostly recycled and
reclaimed materials for this DIY, I hope this
project will inspire people to start thinking
of more ways that they can be eco-friendly in
their homes and lifestyles.”
Workshops are free and all supplies are
provided. Seating is limited for each
workshop, so be sure to check in with the

have been various themes in years past,
including hip urban “lofts” and Disney
décor. This year, the Design Home is
presented in partnership with Cortese
Construction and Ethan Allen.
Friday happy hours at the Home Show
have always been popular features.
The Craft Beer Corner is hosted by Tom
Ragan of WEDG’s Shredd and Ragan
Show. Expect local brews, funny banter,
contests, and other entertainment, on
Fridays at 5:30–8: 30 p.m.
